Barnett SHILOFF was born 25 July 1876 in Kruska, Russia. He was the son of Chaim (Hyman) SHILOFF and Dvoshe ROSIN. Barnett died 9 June 1949 in Sioux City, Woodbury County, Iowa, at the age of 72. He married Mary Katherine ROSIN 9 June 1896 in Mohilev, Russia. She was born 15 February 1873 in Mohilev, Russia. Mary died 11 June 1963 in Sioux City, Woodbury County, Iowa, at the age of 90, and was buried in Sioux City, Iowa.
NOTES: Mary was called "Tante Kuna" by many people in the family including my sister Libby.

Possibly Mary was a first cousin. Said to have raised brother Myer, and sister Anna, when parents died.
While living at 133 Walnut St. Chelsea MA. Barnett filed his first papers for naturalization on 2 Sep. 1903. He filed his Petition for Naturalization the 28th of Feb. 1908. This document shows he arrived in New York on the 6th of November 1902, he was born on 21 July 1877, having three children: Hyman b 13 Mar. 1901 Krusha Russia, Anna b 22 Jan. 1905 Boston MA., Freida b 16 Sep. 1906.
However, this was dismissed as he had moved to Iowa. While living at 705 West 7th St. in Sioux City Iowa a second petition was submitted. This document shows: A. birth as 25 July 1876. B. arrival on the 1 Oct. 1902. Now has four children as Archie is listed. This document shows residence from November. In January 1911 Judge David Mould accepts the proof of the Iowa residence but wants proof of the Boston residence from 23 September 1905 to 10 March 1908. He sets a date of 16 February 1911 to hear the case. On 16 February, 1911 Judge John Oliver finds data insufficient and sets a new date of 20 March, 1911. On that date the matter was continued again, by Judge Mould, to 8 May 1911. On that date Judge Mould seems to have accepted the evidence and Barnett signed the Oath of Allegiance.
Per The Sioux City Journal, June 12, 1963: Came to U.S. approximately 1904. Lived first in Boston, went to Sioux City Iowa in 1907. Barney was in the grocery business for 35 years. Funeral services were at Shaare Zion Synagogue.

Barney shown as working at a laundry and wife Mary at a baking Co. I cannot make out the occupation of Myer.

Obituary post from the paper: Wednesday, January 08, 2003 Freda Goldenberg, 96, of St. Petersburg, Fla., formerly of Sioux City, died Saturday, Jan. 4, 2003, in St. Petersburg following a brief illness. Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel in Sioux City, with Rabbi Bonnie Leavy officiating. Burial will be in Independent Farane Cemetery. There will be no visitation.
Mrs. Goldenberg was born Sept. 15, 1906, in Chelsea, Mass., the daughter of Barnett and Mary Shiloff. She married Edward Goldenberg in 1940, in Griffin, Ga. He died in 1976. She had been a longtime resident of St. Petersburg.
While in Sioux City, she was a member of Shaare Zion Synagogue. Survivors include several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, H.H. Shiloff and A. Shiloff; and two sisters, Rose Levin and Ann Kurland.
